The speech of the seraphim creates a momentous effect (6:3–4). The speech is marked by the noun holy repeated three times for emphasis: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; his glory fills the whole earth. The words glory [Glory, p. 443] and holy [Holy, Holy One of Israel, p. 445] have special importance in this speech.
